A collection of images defined by light, not location.

Beyond Familiar Places

This one is for everywhere outside San Francisco, the places the light was worth chasing on a trip rather than close to home. Right now that includes Seattle, Portland, Santa Barbara, and Santa Cruz.

Ferris wheel with colorful gondolas against the bright sky, sunlight shining through.

A black and white photograph of a long pier extending into the ocean, with people walking and cars parked on it. The pier has small buildings and the American flag at the end. Sailboats are moored nearby and several ships are visible on the horizon.

Black and white photo of a shelf filled with lit candles featuring religious images and notes, against a weathered stone wall, seen through a wrought iron gate.

Close-up of a weathered stone fountain with water dripping from it, in front of a white church with a red roof and bell towers.

Black and white photo of a train moving along railway tracks, viewed through a chain-link fence.

An empty, graffiti-covered concrete ruin on a hilltop overlooking a cityscape on an overcast day.

A low-angle view of a moving freight train on train tracks, with utility poles and a distant landscape in the background.

A decorative lion head sculpture in a circular frame set into a brick wall, surrounded by a pattern of radiating white brick lines.

View of a bridge over a body of water, framed by a decorative railing in the foreground, with cloudy sky in the background.

Neon sign for Portland Oregon, featuring a stag and the words "Portland Oregon" with additional text "Old Town" at the bottom, against a cloudy sky.
