After the Rain

A rain soaked moment
Vintage orange F-line streetcar on wet cobblestone near San Francisco's Ferry Building after rain

An orange F-line streetcar crosses the wet cobblestone near San Francisco's Ferry Building, its rails catching the last of the morning's rain.

I caught this one near Embarcadero and Mission, around lunchtime, after a morning rain had passed. It was the wet cobblestone between the rails that stopped me, the way it held the light differently than the dry stone around it.

The F-line's vintage streetcars have been running this stretch of the Embarcadero for decades, restored PCC cars pulled from cities across the country and put back into service along San Francisco's waterfront. On a wet day, the color of the car against the gray stone and gray sky does most of the work.
